In mid-2022, Common Cause Australia was commissioned by ACT Health to conduct formative research and messaging testing around vaping with young people living and working in the ACT.

We conducted four focus groups with participants aged 14-24 years old on the topic of e-cigarettes and vaping. The groups explored what young people know and think about e-cigarettes and why they do or do not vape. We also tested a range of messages framing vaping from a range of perspectives - including existing anti-vaping campaigns from around Australia and globally.

The report details our findings in full, including recommendations for future messaging aimed at vaping prevention with young people. The report is not publicly available, but will be shared confidentially with vetted professionals working in health promotion on request.
