Over the past seven years, Common Cause Australia has trained hundreds of health advocates in values-based messaging.
Now, with the support of VicHealth, we’ve created a space for our growing community to connect, share, learn and explore values-based messaging together.
The Health Messaging Community of Practice gives Common Cause trained health advocates at least eight opportunities to meet up and learn together each year.

The Health Messaging Community of Practice was created for people working to improve the health and wellbeing of their community through values-based messaging.
It is ideal for people working in public health, health promotion or community services who have completed Common Cause training and now want to connect with other professionals eager to put values-based messaging into practice.
Our community is open to anyone who:
Works in public health, health promotion or community services in Australia or Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Has completed any of the following Common Cause training: Framing Health, Fundamentals, Communications Masterclass or equivalent in-house training.

Each year the community will have at least six opportunities to meet up online for skill-building, problem solving and networking.
As a member, you’ll help shape the program of events by suggesting and voting on topics of interest and sharing examples of your work (only if you want to, of course).
You don’t have to attend everything on offer, but there’s plenty to choose from.
Here’s what you’ll have access to:
Comms Clinics (x4 per year)
Our quarterly Comms Clinics provide a platform for members to review and workshop examples of messaging submitted by their peers. Each session is driven by a community-chosen topic that becomes the focus of that clinic. Members have the chance to connect with one another through breakout groups and lots opportunities for discussion.
Case Study Showcase (x2 per year)
Our Case Study Showcases offer practical insights into how our members are putting values-based messaging into practice. These biannual interactive webinars highlight the challenges faced and the outcomes achieved by public health professionals applying values-based messaging to their work. The showcases provide valuable learning opportunities and inspiration for all attendees.
Research Reveals (when possible)
For those who crave new insights and in-depth knowledge, our Research Reveal webinars provide early access to our latest research and message guides - before they are made available to the public. In each Reveal, we present the key insights and recommendations of our latest research and allow plenty of time for Q&A. The timing and frequency of these sessions depends on when we have new research to share, but you can expect at least a couple each year!

Membership fees help us deliver a jam packed program of events throughout the year.
To ensure the community is as accessible to as many people as possible, membership fees are tiered based on the size of your organisation.
We offer scholarships to those who can't afford the full fee, free access to First Nations people, and group discounts for teams who like to build community together.
